Our Work
Petrochemical & plastics production releases toxins into the air, land, and soil, causing negative health effects on people. We advocate for the protection of communities near petrochemical facilities by pushing to phase out toxic chemical use & end petrochemical expansion, while urging regulatory agencies to enforce stricter emissions permitting.
There are nearly 700 hazardous chemical facilities in Houston. These facilities pose risks of toxic gas releases and explosions. We work with partners and community members to respond to and prepare for chemical disasters, and report on active chemical disasters in the Greater Houston area.
We work alongside community partners to address and remove barriers to understanding the permitting process for chemical facilities by pushing for systemic changes that provide accessibility for community response, including translation requirements and easy-to-understand language.
